Bordering Caulfield and Armadale, this part of St Kilda East is well serviced by transport and attracted apartment builders from the 1930s to the 1960s but has seen little action since then.

A new development at 331 Orrong Road will have eight apartments and four double-storey townhouses with modern design standards and fittings.

The development is near the corner of Hughenden Road and marketing agent for Gary Peer & Associates, RafiJoffe, says early interest has been mostly from owner-occupiers drawn by the proximity to Alma Village.

The two-bedroom apartments begin at $587,500 for a ground-floor and the double-storey townhouses are nearly $800,000.

Sizes range from 85 square metres to 123 square metres for the apartments, and from 108 square metres to 120 square metres for the townhouses.
